Position Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical service and support to our customers, including: OEM’s, dealers, and end-users, via:

• On-Site service at customer facilities using learned knowledge and experience of electro-mechanical assemblies, system operations, programming, and diagnosing of equipment problems.


• In-House telephone support using an automated call distribution network (ACD) with heavy call volume maintaining department goals for time to answer and total log-in time.

The Rail Systems Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day technical oversight of rail systems projects.  The Rail Systems Engineer will provide or oversee all project management, resource allocation and management, project plan definition, business process analysis and transformation, project controls, contract compliance, inspection services, quality management, testing oversight, reporting, and implementation support services for all projects assigned in compliance with NCTD procedures and contract documents. Distinguishing Characteristics

The Rail Systems Engineer leads, directs, and manages all consultant and contractor resources used to implement rail systems projects.  Supervises the activities of contractors and consultant project

teams through all phases of development and system installation, testing, and commissioning, including reviews of design drawings, specifications, technical data analysis and reports and product

1.  Review of project engineering and sales packages to determine the scope of equipment we supply to our customer. 
2.  Reading the customer specifications and implementing those specifications as they apply to the “AS SOLD” equipment.
3.  Development of P&ID drawings in coordination with the project, sales and process engineers to meet our “AS SOLD” package and customer specification requirements.
4.  Development of control panel BOM’s that include control enclosures, pilot lights, push-buttons, selector switches, relays, timers, trip alarms, purge systems and PLC's.
5.  Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation. 
6.  Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, and aviation warning light systems.  Included drawings are general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
7.  Develop logic diagrams in ISA format for complex logic devices such as PLC’s and DCS systems.
8.  Prepare cable BOM’s, routing plans and schedules.
9.  Perform inspection and test of equipment prior to shipment form our fabrication facility.  Inspections and test may be performed with the customer present.
10.  Occasional travel to assist the our sales group or assist the customer with commissioning of the our supplied control system.  Travel includes domestic as well as overseas destinations.
